In Fort Rupert, the village that was Richard’s home, they would wait each year for a sign that the salmon were returning home to spawn. Their return gave hope that there would be enough food for all, including the great eagle and the cautious Raven. The house by the river, with the Kulus and outstretched wings, is Richard’s house.
